What will the braves do this offseason

Pederson slowed down after a good start with the team and had his postseason moments, but from a performance standpoint should be seen behind the other three, though his improvement against left-handed pitchers this season enhances the chance that a team could see him as an everyday option.

Guillermo Heredia is under team control in arbitration if the team wishes to retain him. My guess is that Duvall and Pederson will be back along with Heredia.

So that leaves left field and designated hitter. No doubt the Braves would be interested in bringing back both Rosario and Soler for those spots, and re-signing one or both of them is probably the leader going into the clubhouse. An out-of-the-box solution would be signing one of the free agent infielders and moving either Ozzie Albies or Dansby Swanson to the outfield, which brings us to…. If the Braves are interested in retaining Swanson, now would be the time to approach him about signing a multi-year extension.

He is a strong defender at shortstop, but not really an elite, top type of defender. When he is hitting well, he can carry a team for awhile, but he also tends to go into maddeningly long slumps. This is an important decision for the club. The Braves should not leave this an open question. One of the things that make these relievers stand out is that they are roughly as effective against right-handed hitters as left-handed — in some cases more effective.

That allowed the Braves to somewhat hide a weakness in right-handed relievers. Chris Martin started the season expected to be another late-inning option but his performance suffered as the season went on though he had a very nice post-season and is now a free agent.

Jacob Webb has had his moments as well, but should still be considered a low- to medium-leverage option. Finally there is mid-season pick-up Richard Rodriguez, who has gone from Pirates closer to potential non-tender candidate. Touki Toussaint in particular has had some major league success as a reliever before and has the stuff and temperament to potentially be successful there. As always there are a plethora of interesting free agent options, especially when it comes to right-handers, and I will not bother to list them all out.

The bullpen is already a strong unit heading into , but another strong right-handed option or two could make it a world-beater. Good read. Winker from Cincinnati would run about mil. PLUS they still have extra cash for the bench, bullpen, and in season trades. I vehemently disagree with you. You want to take the cold, hard numbers approach with a 4th OF- fine, totally cool. Acuna Jr. This team has a lot of character and leadership. But signing Freeman for an average of 30 mil is only increasing payroll by 7.

The money is easily made up by not making a signing like Smyly that was a waste of 11 mill right there. The money given to Smyly is essentially eaten up in raises in arbitration, Ronalds contract, a raise to Morton, etc. I predict the Braves find a way out from under the Ozuna contract.

With all the negotiating already taking place this winter, I can see both sides agreeing to make an example of Ozuna and allow the Braves to release him. That gives them a great deal more payroll flexibility.

He gets a 1 year suspension without pay. The Braves try to trade him next off-season, fail to find a taker and just DFA him. All that sounds great. Forget all that, get 5 signed is the priority. Dude on other post had him with the Red Sox. It means something and it is different. Lock this dude up so I can sleep better at night please. This is a nonsense, in a division that had Scherzer, Trea Turner and De Grom for most of the year, along with a decent Marlins team with a good pitching staff who are on the improve, the press wants to downplay the credibility of the Braves winning the division and then winning the World Series.

Downplay the NL West who had two of the poorest teams in baseball, the Diamondbacks and the Rockies, count how many wins the Giants and Dodgers had against these poor teams. Find some more excuses for the Braves winning the World Series, but, but, but. No respect at all for the pitching staff that basically shut the Brewers and the Dodgers prior to them. Preach…… Crime dog! I am soooooo tired of people not giving the Bravos their just do.

We lost so many pieces every step of the way and still persevered out on Top. Historic season for the Braves and for baseball. Freeman gets better pitches for other players to hit just by his presence in the lineup. He is also the leader on that team and without him the Braves will be in trouble because he keeps other players under control.

Locking up the entire infield would be solid defensively and at the plate. It seems AA is too. Chipper Jones, Heart and soul of those Braves.

I hope with all of our turn out this year ownership sees that. I blew thousands to see my Braves and Mr. Brave of today Freddie Freeman play. That tomahawk across the chest is my childhood all the way to my later years. We love and cheer Hard. Freddie is the leader of this team. Sign him ownership! Most teams represent a city. The Braves represent an entire region. Kevin, our region. We chop, we war cry, we remain!

We deserve Dodgers were 1st in attendance they have a 50k stadium. We showed up and showed out. Again, Braves Country is real. Real buying power and worth. Our team deserves to be more than that mid market crap. We are a powerhouse as what I call Braves Nation. Re-sign our pulse in number 5 and continue to crush the NL East. Chop on Braves Nation. Battle Won!!!!!!!! The Braves are in win-now mode and it would probably be worth a Pache, Waters, or Langeliers based trade.

Acuna, Mullins, Duvall outfield would be strong. There are rumors that the Oakland Athletics are planning to cut their payroll, so we can try to entice them to get 2 players:. This way we have one of the top rotations in MLB and nearly all the position players that helped the team win the WS, again in the lineup.

A better question would be, how will the Orioles build off of their loss season 6. He was good at one point in before coming to Atlanta 6. Remember Will Smith was fairly awful in himself 7. Devito is 23 and yet to reach AA 1. Homerun derby pitcher 1. Other pitchers adjusted, RichRod got a lot worse 3. But chances he leaves Atl are as good as Baltimore winning a Title 2.

If that were to happen, Braves fans would riot. Bitching about something on a free to you Internet site is a weird flex. That is right, 10, maybe New Bumgarner. We all love Freddie but giving him more than a 6 year deal is crazy.

Ozuna was good when he played for Atlanta. A lot of players done worse and fans took them back. David Justice beat his wife who happened to be Halle Berry… 1.

Bobby Cox beat his wife like a drum. Their best player, who is one of the very best players in the league missed half the season. They would have had 96 wins if Will Smith was a closer. I think his family will be fine, bro. The question might come down to whether to bring back Rosario or Peterson. Rosario has the more productive left-handed bat, but Pederson still has some power and his personality plays well both in the clubhouse and the stands.

So, this might be one of those rare offseasons where there may not be a need to seek relievers. Braves offseason FAQ: Who's in?
